PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A Pennsylvania woman will get the pension of former NFL running back Tom Sullivan because he didn’t divorce her before marrying again.
A federal judge says Sullivan’s second wife, a South Carolina woman, should no longer receive his $2,700-a-month NFL spousal benefit.
Sullivan played for the Philadelphia Eagles and Cleveland Browns from 1972 to 1978, rushing for 3,142 yards and scoring 17 TDs in a seven-year career. He died in 2002.
In 1979, Sullivan married Lavona Hill of Folcroft, in suburban Philadelphia. They went their separate ways by 1983.
