ISSAQUAH, Wash. (AP) — Washington wildlife agents have tranquilized a bear that appeared to be in trouble in a backyard in Issaquah.

The homeowner told KIRO-TV he’s accustomed to seeing bears passing along the wooded area, but the young bear he saw Thursday morning appeared to be stuck in a creek, possible trapped by a log.

After darting the bear, wildlife agents moved it to a portable cage. They called in experts to determine if the bear is injured. If not it will be released back into the wild.

Wildlife officers said the bear may have been looking for a den to hibernate.
