PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The Oregonian newspaper says the man accused of robbing Columbia Sportswear Chairwoman Gert Boyle at her home once ran a successful advertising agency.

Nestor Gabriel Caballero Gutierrez, of Aloha, was arraigned Friday in Clackamas County Circuit Court on charges of robbery, kidnapping and burglary. He’s being held without bail.

Police say the 86-year-old Boyle was confronted at her West Linn home on Wednesday by a man claiming to be making a delivery. When she got suspicious, he pulled a gun and ordered her inside the house. Boyle was able to trip a silent panic button that summoned police.

The Oregonian says the 39-year-old Gutierrez ran Creativa Advertising in Portland for eight years. It says he apparently ran into money problems, losing his home to foreclosure in December. A collection agency also filed two actions against him.
