Morehead State routs Valparaiso 37-15

MOREHEAD, Ky. (AP) — Desmond Cox ran for two touchdowns and Morehead State’s defense shut down Valparaiso in a 37-15 win on Saturday.

The Eagles (4-6, 3-4 Pioneer Football League) scored the game’s first 24 points, capped by Cox’s 2-yard scoring run with 11:25 left in the third quarter.

Morehead State took a 17-0 lead at halftime behind 325 yards of offense, compared to just 17 by the Crusaders (0-11, 0-8).

The Eagles finished with 609 yards of total offense, compared to 124 by Valparaiso, which included minus-26 yards on the ground.

Jerome Rayman had 3.5 sacks for Morehead State, which was led on offense by Cox’s 124 yards on 19 carries. Zach Lewis added 317 yards on 29-for-41 passing and Rainer Duzan made 3 of 3 field goals.

Eli Crawford made the score 24-7 on a 45-yard interception return for the Crusaders with 10:02 left in the third quarter.
