Vermont holds off Siena rally, 80-76

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Joey Accaoui scored 19 points off the bench and made two late free throws as Vermont held off a late Siena rally for an 80-76 win Saturday night.

The Catamounts led by 14 with 4:28 left, but Ryan Rossiter scored seven points in a 10-0 run that pulled Siena within four, 71-67, with 1:55 left.

Accaoui hit a jumper to make it 75-70 with 52 seconds left, but the Saints got within two, 78-76, on OD Anosike’s layup with 12 seconds to play. Accaoui made two free throws with five seconds left for the final margin.

Evan Fejeld also scored 19 points for Vermont, and the Catamount’s bench outscored Siena’s 45-16 as Sandro Carissimo had 13 points and Luke Apfeld added 10.

Siena’s Rossiter scored 27 points, making all 11 of his free throws, and had 10 rebounds, two blocks and two steals. Clarence Jackson had 14 points and five steals, and Anosike added 11 points and five rebounds.
