Washington State posts 86-47 win over Southern

PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) — Faisal Aden scored 18 points to lead Washington State to an 86-47 season-opening victory against Southern on Saturday night.

Southern (0-2) took an 11-8 lead six minutes into the game. After that, it was all Cougars.

Washington State led 41-18 at halftime and was paced by Klay Thompson, who had 13 of his 15 points in the first half.

Quinton Doggett led Southern with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

DeAngelo Casto scored 16 points off the bench for the Cougars, and Marcus Capers had a team-high 15 rebounds.
