Isenbarger, Elon rout College of New Jersey 99-68

ELON, N.C. (AP) — Freshman Jack Isenbarger scored 29 points to lead Elon to a 99-68 victory over the College of New Jersey on Monday night.

Isenbarger, who made 10 of 14 shots for the Phoenix (1-1), is shooting 68 percent through two games. He scored 22 points in a season-opening loss to South Carolina.

After the Lions (0-1), a Division III team, used a 9-2 run to get within 23-21, Isenbarger scored Elon’s next 12 points, including three consecutive 3-pointers. He was 6 for 7 behind the arc in the game.

The Phoenix led 50-34 at halftime, scoring 32 of those points in the paint. For the game, they had a 49-31 rebounding advantage against the Lions, who didn’t start anyone taller than 6-feet-4.

Junior guard Terrance Birdette scored a career-high 19 points for Elon, and Chris Long was 6 for 6 from the field and scored 18 points.

Al Matlock led College of New Jersey with 21 points.
