Oregon troopers arrest two

Two San Francisco men were arrested early Sunday morning by Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers during a traffic stop north of Aurora when over 14 lbs. of marijuana was found concealed in the vehicle.

On November 14, 2010 at approximately 2:47 a.m. an OSP trooper stopped a 2004 Lexus RX displaying California license plates northbound on Interstate 5 near milepost 281 for failure to maintain a lane of travel. The two occupants were identified as driver LABIB M. BARANCE, age 29, and passenger GARY E. FITZGERALD, age 38, both from San Francisco, California.

Subsequent investigation during the traffic stop led to the discovery and seizure of approximately 14 1/4 lbs. of marijuana concealed inside the vehicle. An OSP drug detection canine assisted during the traffic stop and discovery of the marijuana which has an estimated value of $35,000.

BARANCE and FITZGERALD were arrested without incident and lodged at the Clackamas County Jail for felony Unlawful Possession and Distribution of a Controlled Substance – Marijuana.
