Louisiana-Lafayette beats Louisiana College 91-66

LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) — Travis Bureau scored 16 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead Louisiana-Lafayette past Louisiana College 91-66 on Monday night.

The Ragin’ Cajuns (1-1) jumped out to a 16-2 lead less than five minutes into the opening half and led 47-30 at halftime thanks to 20-of-36 (55.6 percent) shooting and a 24-6 scoring advantage in the paint.

David Perez had a game-high 22 points, including 5 of 7 from 3-point range, while Scottie Farrington and Josh Brown added 15 apiece for Louisiana-Lafayette.

JeLani Mitchell led the Wildcats with 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting, while Danny Sumner added 14 points off the bench.

Louisiana College was outrebounded 46-31 and outscored 46-22 in the paint.

The Ragin’ Cajuns shot 37 for 66 (56.1 percent) from the field and scored 31 points off of 20 Wildcats turnovers.

The double-double for Bureau was the first of his career.
