PHOENIX (AP) — The Arizona Diamondbacks have added Billy Ryan as assistant general manager under the recently hired Kevin Towers.

Ryan spent the past three seasons working for the Major League Baseball commissioner’s office as senior coordinator of salary and contract administration. His job there was to serve as a liaison for all 30 teams on MLB rules, the basic agreement and other contractual and industry practices.

Ryan previously served as a scouting supervisor for Cleveland and worked in the operations and scouting departments for Texas.

Arizona also switched Shiraz Rehman from director of baseball operations to director of player personnel.

Towers was hired as GM just before the end of the regular season.
