Florida Atlantic defeats Warner Southern 88-58

BOCA RATON, Fla. (AP) — Greg Gantt scored 20 points to lead three Florida Atlantic players in double figures in an 88-58 win over Warner Southern on Wednesday night.

Kore White added 16 points and Dennis Mavin had 14 for the Owls (2-1), who led 43-25 at halftime.

Gantt scored 14 and White chipped in 10 in the first half, as Florida Atlantic held the Royals to 34.6 percent shooting (9 of 26) before halftime.

The Owls shot 54.7 percent from the field (35 for 64) in the game, including an 8 of 12 effort from Gantt.

Florida Atlantic outrebounded Warner Southern 41-24, with Jordan McCoy’s 11 leading the way.

Ian Wilhelm scored 16 points for the NAIA Royals, who treated the game as an exhibition. Adam Branch added 15 for Warner Southern.

It was the second meeting for the two teams, with Florida Atlantic defeating the Royals 106-99 in a triple overtime on Dec. 10, 2009.
