COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) — Diandra Tchatchouang had 12 points and nine rebounds, Alyssa Thomas and Tianna Hawkins each scored 10, and No. 21 Maryland never trailed in a 72-45 victory over Towson on Thursday night.

The win was doubly satisfying for the Terrapins (2-1) because it came on the heels of an eight-point loss to No. 13 Georgetown and provided a measure of revenge for a 67-55 defeat at Towson last season.

Maryland does not have a senior on the roster, but the Terrapins were taller and quicker than Towson, and they used that advantage to finish with a 45-24 rebounding edge and 17 steals.

Deree Fooks scored 13 and Krystal Parnell had nine points for the Tigers (1-2), who committed 28 turnovers.

Towson managed to stay within striking distance until a 9-0 Maryland run made it 44-33 with 11:16 left.
