Washington’s Richards garners Pac-10 honors

Camas High grad named First Team for men's soccer

University of Washington junior forward Brent Richards has been named named to the men’s soccer All-Pacific-10 Conference First Team

Richards, a Camas High School graduate, was one of the team captains this season. He led the Huskies in scoring for the third consecutive season with eight goals and five assists, including three game-winning goals.

He was named to the All-Pac-10 Second Team last season and earned Honorable Mention honors his freshman year. In Pac-10 games, he led the conference in shots and shots a game, and was third in goals, fourth in points and points per game, fifth in goals per game and ninth in assists.

He is a two-time Pac-10 All-Academic First-Team selection and a CoSIDA District VIII First-Team All-Academic honoree this year.

The Huskies finished the season 11-6-1, 5-5-0 in Pac-10 matches.

Linfield’s Camacho All-NWC in soccer

Linfield College senior midfielder/forward Michel Camacho was named All-Northwest Conference First Team for men’s soccer.

The Mountain View High School graduate was Linfield’s leading scorer this season, finishing with seven goals to go along with two assists. He was third in the conference in goals per game (0.41) and sixth in total goals. Camacho was a second-team selection in 2009 and an honorable mention in both 2008 and 2007.

Whitworth’s Babar All-NWC in soccer

Whitworth University junior defender Anisa Babar, a Vancouver resident and graduate of Portland’s Jesuit High School, was named First Team All-NWC. She was a Second Team selection in 2009.

Babar started all 20 games for the Pirates (14-5-1), notching an assist.

Concordia’s Brace All-CCC in soccer

Concordia University sophomore forward Jared Brace was named First Team All-Cascade Collegiate Conference for men’s soccer.

The Columbia River High School graduate, has eight goals and three assists in 18 games for the Cavaliers (16-2-1), ranked No. 25 in NAIA.

Concordia won the CCC championship with a 2-1 victory over Warner Pacific, earning a place in the NAIA national championships. The Cavaliers travel to face William Jewell University (17-2) at 5 p.m. Saturday in Liberty, Mo., in the opening round.

Concordia women to host playoff game

The Concordia University women’s soccer team, ranked No. 1 in NAIA, will host No. 15 Simon Fraser in a national tournament opening round game at 6 p.m. Saturday at Delta Park in Portland.

Concordia (18-0-2) claimed the Cascade Collegiate Conference championship Saturday with a 2-1 victory over Corban. The roster includes Camas High graduate Sami Andrews, Ridgfield High graduate Kailey Anderson and two players with Camas ties, Shelby Bloodworth and Adrienne Lommasson.

SPU women reach NCAA-II regional

Maddie Dickinson recorded her ninth shutout of the season as Seattle Pacific advanced to the third round of the NCAA Division II women’s soccer playoffs with a 2-0 win Saturday over Montana State-Billings. The Falcons (16-1-2), who had a bye in the first round, will face UC San Diego at noon today in Austin, Texas for the West Region final.

It was the 28th career shutout for Falcons senior Dickinson, a Skyview High graduate.
