Maine on target in 95-44 rout of Maine-Machias

ORONO, Maine. (AP) — Murphy Burnatowski scored 17 points and Sean McNally and Gerald McLemore had 13 apiece as Maine coasted to a 95-44 victory over Maine-Machias on Friday night.

Burnatowski had 15 of his points and McLemore all of his in the first half, when the Black Bears (2-1) took a 56-24 lead over their NAIA opponent.

Maine scored the game’s first nine points, then used a 19-0 run to expand a 13-5 lead to 32-5 with 9:24 left in the first half. At one point, the Black Bears sank four consecutive 3-pointers.

All 12 players who got into the game for Maine scored as they continued to add to their lead in the second half.

The Black Bears shot 62.5 percent (35 of 56) for the game to 33.3 percent (15 of 45) for the Clippers (3-2) and had a 35-17 rebounding edge.

Zach Armstrong scored 13 points, the only player in double figures for Maine-Machias.
