What’s the buzz from the world of sports? Here are some items that will have people talking:

1

Forget for a minute what the Blazers should do now. Let’s give Greg Oden some free advice.

Greg, do what you can to leave the Blazers on good terms. Say all the right things, that you liked the city, that you worked hard, your body just wasn’t working, and that you need a fresh start somewhere, anywhere, but here.

You see, even if you recover and become a quality NBA player, if you come back to the Blazers, you will never escape the dread.

If you play two solid months next year, for example, there will still be those wondering when is the next injury going to happen. You could play 70 games in a row, roll an ankle, and all the doom and gloom would return.

There really is no upside for you with the Blazers unless you never miss another game, unless you lead the team to an NBA title.

That’s too heavy of a burden for you, sir.

We wish you well in your recovery. We wish you well on your comeback. We hope to cheer you when you return to Portland in another uniform. Trust us, it’s for your own good.

After the NFL Network aired its tribute to the 100 best players in NFL history, columnist and blogger Jeff Pearlman made a list of the 100 worst players in NFL history.

Two players currently playing for the Detroit Lions made the list.

One, safety C.C. Brown, is not a fan of the list.

Pearlman wrote that C.C. stands for Can’t Cover.

Ouch.

Brown’s first response, reported in the Detroit News, was 35 words in length. Four of those words were described as “Bleep.”

Guess the censor can cover.
