SEATTLE (AP) — With cold weather and possibly snow due in Western Washington, shelters are being opened where homeless people can stay warm.
Seattle opened its two shelters Thursday night and will keep them open through Tuesday night, with no one turned away. The city opens the shelters when temperatures drop to freezing or there is heavy rain.
In Everett, the Salvation Army will open its emergency shelter Sunday night. And in Kitsap County, two shelters are opening Friday night in Bremerton and another in Poulsbo.
The National Weather Service says temperatures in the 20s and 30s and rain or snow are forecast through the weekend in the Puget Sound area.
