Western Kentucky stuns Hofstra 62-60 in P.R.

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) — Juan Pattillo had 17 points and 10 rebounds, Steffphon Pettigrew scored 12 points and Western Kentucky beat Hofstra 62-60 Friday night in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off.

The Pride (1-2) blew an eight-point lead with 2:50 left in the game.

Kahlil McDonald hit consecutive 3s that pulled Western Kentucky (3-1) to 59-56. Caden Dickerson sank a 3-pointer with 35 seconds left for the Hilltoppers, then Brandon Peters made a quick steal and a layup for a 61-60 lead with 29 seconds left.

With the score 62-60, Hofstra called a timeout to set up one final chance at a tie. Shemiye McLendon’s driving layup down the lane bounced off the rim as time expired.

Charles Jenkins scored 27 points for Hofstra, and Mike Moore had 15 points and 11 rebounds.
