Providence takes down Prairie View A&M 78-62

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Marshon Brooks had 22 points and 10 rebounds, one of three Providence players with double-doubles, and the Friars came away with a 78-62 victory over Prairie View A&M on Saturday.

Vincent Council scored 13 points and dished out 10 assists, and Bilal Dixon had 14 points and 14 rebounds for Providence.

The Friars (4-0) never trailed as they defeated their fourth opponent in seven days.

Trant Simpson led Prairie View A&M (1-4) with 14 points.

Providence dominated down low, scoring 44 points in the paint compared to the Panthers’ 22. The Friars also outrebounded Prairie View A&M 53-31.

The score was close for the opening 10 minutes, but Providence went on a 20-4 run for a 38-20 lead. The Friars were not threatened again.
