Rios lifts Texas State to 76-63 victory

EDINBURG, Texas (AP) — Eddie Rios came off the bench to score 20 points and Texas State dominated inside during a 76-63 win Saturday night over Texas-Pan American.

Tony Bishop added 15 points and eight rebounds for the Bobcats (2-1), who outscored Pan American 50-20 on points in the paint.

Brandon Provost led the Broncs (1-4) with 17 points and eight rebounds.

Texas State used a 7-0 run at the end of the first half to take a 35-25 lead at intermission. The Bobcats upped the lead to 18 points on a Travis Jones 3-pointer with 11:59 left in the game, and the Broncs never got closer than 11 the rest of the way.

The teams combined for 42 turnovers — 22 for Texas State, 20 for Pan-American. The Bobcats shot 46.3 percent from the field but hit only 3 of 18 3-pointers and were 11 for 25 from the free-throw line. The Broncs shot 30.5 percent from the field and were 6 for 25 from 3-point range.
