TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Race officials say an Oklahoma man has died while participating in a half marathon in Tulsa.

The Williams Route 66 Marathon directors said in a news release that the 27-year-old Tulsa man collapsed on the course Sunday.

Race officials say he received medical attention before being taken to Oklahoma State University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The man’s name has not been released. A cause of death also has not been released.

About 9,000 runners took part in the race that included a marathon, a half-marathon, a 5 kilometer race and a one-mile run.

The race began in 2005 and has had one other death when a 21-year-old Claremore man died while running in it two years ago.
