Portis starts for Redskins; Rodgers, Landry sit

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Clinton Portis is starting against Tennessee after missing the past five games with a torn left groin. The Redskins deactivated cornerback Carlos Rodgers and safety LaRon Landry due to injuries.

Anderson Russell will start for Landry, who is out with a sore Achilles’ tendon, and Phillip Buchanon starts for Rodgers against Randy Moss in the veteran receiver’s home debut for Tennessee.

The Redskins also are sitting right guard Artis Hicks with Will Montgomery starting in his place. Ryan Torain is inactive.

Kerry Collins will be the Titans’ No. 3 quarterback. He has a strained left calf. Vince Young’s backup will be rookie Rusty Smith.

Receiver Kenny Britt and tight end Craig Stevens also are out.
