Snow fell in the metro area Sunday afternoon, but the wet flakes aren’t expected to stick until tonight.

The temperature at Pearson Field just before 2 p.m. was 39 degrees, which means the wet flakes will quickly melt.

It was snowing throughout Clark County, however, including Hazel Dell, Salmon Creek and Dollars Corner.

At 2:04 p.m. the National Weather Service in Portland issued the following winter weather advisory for the Vancouver area.

It calls for snow showers this afternoon into this evening, then temporarily decreasing later tonight.

On Monday, snow will fall again, bringing heavier amounts.

Up to one inch accumulation of snow is possible tonight, and up to two inches are expected Monday afternoon and evening.

Tht’s enough snow to make roads slick, forecasters warned.

Veteran weather observer Pat Timm noted in today’s Columbian that it would snow.
