SECAUCUS, N.J. (AP) — Erik Stover of the New York Red Bulls has been selected executive of the year by Major League Soccer.

Stover oversaw the construction of Red Bull Arena, the team’s new stadium in Harrison, and was instrumental in the signing of international stars Thierry Henry and Rafa Marquez this summer. The Red Bulls’ managing director also arranged to have Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Juventus FC play at Red Bull Arena.

Before joining the Red Bulls three years ago, Stover served as general manager of Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego. He also spent nine years with the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority.
