A Washougal man was arrested Monday on several charges stemming from a Vancouver home invasion in August.

Investigators used DNA to connect Mark A. Markussen, 47, to an assault at a home in the 15300 block of Southeast Rivershore Drive. The home invasion-assault was alleged to have occurred Aug. 17, according to a news bulletin issued by the Vancouver Police Department.

A woman reported she was home alone when an armed man entered her home and attacked her. The woman allegedly struggled with Markussen until he fled.

He was arrested on suspicion of first-degree assault, first-degree robbery and first-degree burglary. In addition, an investigation into a separate incident by the Camas Police Department resulted in a charge of first-degree theft.
