HONOLULU (AP) — Zane Johnson scored 13 of his 16 points in the second half and Joston Thomas added 16 to rally Hawaii to a 70-63 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Wednesday night.

Vander Joaquim grabbed 16 rebounds for Hawaii, which is off to its best start since the 2004 season, and Hiram Thompson had 15 points.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff’s Savalance Townsend led all scorers with 25 points. Gavin Montgomery added 16 and Terrell Kennedy 11 for the Lions.

The Rainbow Warriors (5-0) trailed 32-29 at halftime but used a 21-9 run to surge ahead 50-41 with 14:14 seconds left.

The Golden Lions (0-5), who led by as many as nine points late in the first half, went cold and shot just 39.7 percent in the second half.

Hawaii played without leading scorer and rebounder Bill Amis, expected to miss five to six weeks with a stress fracture in his right foot.
