Austria beats Norway in ski jump team event

KUUSAMO, Finland (AP) — Olympic champion Austria dominated the season’s first ski jump World Cup team event Saturday, beating Norway and Japan.

The Austrian quartet of Thomas Morgenstern, Wolfgang Loitzl, Andreas Kofler and Gregor Schlierenzauer combined for 1,231.4 points. The Norwegian team scored 1,163.4 points, followed by Japan with 1,121.3 points.

Austria’s team was identical to the one that finished first ahead of Germany and Norway at the Vancouver Olympics.

Host nation Finland finished fourth, with Germany trailing in seventh.
