ISLAMABAD (AP) — Pakistani police say they have foiled a plot to bomb a mosque and government buildings in the country’s capital.

Police official Bin Yamin says officers arrested two would-be suicide bombers on Friday. He says one bomber was wearing an explosives vest and was on his way to attack a mosque during Friday prayers in Islamabad.

Yamin says the questioning of the suspects indicated they were planning to hit government buildings in the capital, possibly even Parliament.

He says the would-be bombers are linked to the Pakistani Taliban in South Waziristan, a one-time headquarters of the militants where Pakistani army has been fighting them since last fall.
