Unselfish Cardinals off to perfect 3-0 start

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Louisville coach Rick Pitino said before the season he had no idea who would lead the Cardinals in scoring.

Three games in, and Pitino still has no clue. Not that he’s complaining. The Cardinals are off to a perfect 3-0 start behind the kind of unselfish play he says Louisville will need if it wants to compete in the Big East.

Louisville has had a different leading scorer in each of its three games and had at least four players score in double figures in each contest, including seven in a 106-65 rout of Chattanooga on Monday.

The Cardinals are averaging an assist on 72 percent of their field goals heading into Saturday’s game against Marshall (3-1). Pitino called the number a sign his team knew it had to work together to be successful.
