ASPEN, Colo. (AP) — Maria Pietilae-Holmner of Sweden is leading after the first run of a World Cup slalom and Lindsey Vonn has turned in a steady run a day after skiing off course.

Vonn, the three-time overall World Cup champion, was in 10th position Sunday, trailing Pietilae-Holmner by 1.07 seconds. Austria’s Nicole Hosp, who missed last season with a right knee injury, was in second 0.09 behind.

Vonn took a more conservative approach on her opening run Sunday. The American was overly aggressive Saturday in a giant slalom and missed a gate.

Julia Mancuso of Squaw Valley, Calif., skied aggressively after an early stumble and later veered off the slalom course. Austria’s Marlies Schild, who won the event in Levi, Finland, two weeks ago, missed the first gate.
