SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Three people died in three separate fatal traffic crashes on Oregon roads over the Thanksgiving holiday, a slight increase from the past two years.

The Statesman Journal reported that Oregon State Police troopers responded to more than 300 traffic crashes during the holiday, more than twice the number during 2009.

Troopers also reported 47 driving while intoxicated arrests, down from 53 arrests reported last year. The state police Springfield office again reported the highest number with 8 DUII arrests.

In 2009 and 2008, crashes killed two people over the Thanksgiving holiday in each year.
