PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A small plane crash in Oregon killed the pilot but authorities said a small dog aboard the homemade aircraft survived.
The Clackamas County sheriff’s office said the plane crashed just before noon Monday at a tree farm near Lenhart Airpark in a rural area just south of Portland.
The pilot was not immediately identified pending notification of family.
Deputies said the dog fled the crash and ran to a grade school in the area. The school principal alerted authorities the dog arrived at the school scared, with singed fur and smelled of smoke.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating. Other details were not available.
