ASTORIA, Ore. (AP) — Oregon State Police fish and wildlife troopers are asking for help in identifying the people responsible for illegally shooting three elk and abandoning the carcasses near the Clatsop-Columbia county line in northwest Oregon.
A reward of as much as $500 is offered for information leading to an arrest.
Trooper Joseph Warwick says that on Nov. 13, a group of hunters shot and killed two cow elk and a calf and then left them off Boeck Ranch Road. A witness reported seeing three vehicles as the shooters were standing over the elk.
The vehicles are described as a newer model white Dodge or Ford crew cab pickup with logos on the doors and tailgate, an early 1990s forest green Ford Explorer SUV and a black Ford crew cab pickup with camper shell.
