SEATTLE (AP) — King County prosecutors have filed a second-degree murder charge against a Federal Way-area man accused of killing his girlfriend’s 2-year-old daughter.
Ron Wallace Jr. was arrested Nov. 21 after he reportedly dialed 911 to report the child was not breathing. Sheriff’s Sgt. John Urquhart says the child, Purpose Goldsmith, suffered head trauma and other injuries. She died en route to a Seattle hospital.
Charging papers filed Monday said the 28-year-old Wallace had been home alone with the little girl and her 4-year-old brother while their mother worked.
Prosecutors say Wallace told investigators he was frustrated with the girl for soiling her diaper. They allege he struck her six or seven times with a belt, slapped her and shook her.
