Cartwright, Eggleston lead Penn over UMBC 71-59

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Miles Cartwright scored 19 points and Jack Eggleston 17 to lead Pennsylvania to a 71-59 victory over winless Maryland-Baltimore County on Tuesday night.

Cartwright, the Ivy League Rookie of the Week, scored 12 of his points in the first half, when the Quakers (3-3) rallied from a 12-6 deficit to a 32-26 lead at the break. Penn shot 63.2 percent from the field (12 of 19) in the half.

Eggleston scored 11 of his points in the second half, when Penn led by as many as 15 points.

Justin Fry had 16 points and seven rebounds for the Retrievers (0-6), including 12 in the first half. Travis King added 14 points and Laurence Jolicoeur 13.

Penn had a big edge at the free-throw line, particularly in the second half. The Quakers made 28 of 36 from the line, including 12 of 16 in the final 5:13. The Retrievers were 12 of 12 from the line, all in the second half.
