NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — Austin Morgan scored 22 points, hitting all five of his 3-pointers, as Yale held off Hartford 81-76 on Tuesday night.
The Bulldogs (3-3) led by as many as 14 in the second half, but the Hawks (1-5) cut the margin to one point on three occasions. The first two times were at the 7:55 and 7:28 marks, and the last came at 76-75 with 36 seconds to go after a Joe Zeglinski 3-pointer.
Yale then hit 5 of 6 free throws in the final 36 seconds, with Greg Mangano’s two foul shots sealing the win with 2 seconds left.
Zeglinski led the Hawks with 21 points, all in the second half. The Bulldogs held Hartford’s leading scorer, Morgan Sabia, to seven points, 11 fewer than his average, and Milton Burton had 13.
