STORRS, Conn. (AP) — Connecticut isn’t making any apologies for putting itself in position to get a BCS bowl berth.

The Huskies (7-4, 4-2) can earn at least a share of the Big East title, and the conference’s automatic BCS bid if they beat South Florida (7-4, 3-3) Saturday.

UConn holds tie-breakers over West Virginia and Pittsburgh, the other two teams with a shot.

Coach Randy Edsall says the Huskies aren’t worried about what other people think or say about the program.

UConn started the season 3-4, but has won four in a row. Quarterback Zach Frazer says the Huskies have gone from thinking they could win, to knowing they can win, and don’t plan to let the championship slip away.
