Vancouver police fanned out around midnight Thursday and very early Friday around the area of Southeast Mill Plain Boulevard and Park Crest Avenue in Cascade Park, looking for a man who allegedly fled from a routine traffic stop.

Several officers were checking apartment complexes in the area, looking for a man in his 20s. Asked by another officer what crime the suspect had committed, an officer said attempting to elude police, according to emergency radio traffic monitored at The Columbian.

A 911 dispatcher said the man had run from a traffic stop, and said no one had been reported injured.

As of 12:40 a.m. Friday, officers had broken their containment of the area and were dispersing. The suspect was not found, a dispatcher said.

Minutes later, however, someone called 911 from the area to report seeing a man jump over a fence and officers returned to the area.
