HONOLULU (AP) — Bryant Moniz threw for 532 yards and four touchdown passes to lead Hawaii over Louisiana Tech 41-21 Saturday night in the Western Athletic Conference opener for both teams.

Hawaii (3-2) built an early 24-point lead, capped by a 66-yard touchdown pass to Kealoha Pilares, who scored twice and broke a school record with 18 receptions.

It was the ninth straight loss on the road for Louisiana Tech (1-4), which last won away from home on Nov. 22, 2008. The Bulldogs have lost four in a row this season.

The Warriors’ nation-leading passing offense controlled the game behind Moniz, exceeding the 405.5 yards per game average entering Saturday. Moniz completed 42 of 58 passes.

Pilares, who accumulated 217 yards, broke Hawaii’s previous record of 16 receptions in a game.
