KINGSTON, R.I. (AP) — Quarterback Steve Probst rushed for three touchdowns, including a 25-yard score in overtime, as Rhode Island defeated Brown 27-24 on Saturday.

Probst also had touchdown runs of 5 yards and 1 yard and Jarrod Williams recovered a blocked punt in the end zone to stake the Rams (2-2) to a 21-14 lead.

Kyle Newhall-Caballero, who had 325 yards passing, threw his third touchdown for the Bears (2-1), a 19-yarder to Jimmy Saros, to tie the game at 21 with 11:59 left in regulation.

Freshman kicker Alexander Norocea, who tied a Brown record with five field goals in a 29-14 win over Harvard last week, kicked a 34-yarder on fourth-and-2 from the Rhode Island 17.

Probst wasted no time on the Rams’ first overtime play in the 95th meeting for the Governor’s Cup.

Probst was 22-for-38 for 187 yards passing while rushing for 59. Ayo Isijola added 97 yards on the ground.
