GIG HARBOR, Wash. (AP) — Drivers who fail to pay the toll on the Tacoma Narrows Bridge soon will be getting a bill instead of a ticket in the mail.
The Transportation Department says “photo tolling” starts in January. Cameras take photos of license plates and mail bills to owners who don’t pay or have an automatic transponder accounts. The bill will be about $4, compared to the $52 ticket violators now receive.
The News Tribune reports photo tolling also will be used starting next spring on the Highway 520 floating bridge in Seattle.
