A Battle Ground man was ticketed Monday afternoon after crashing a 2005 Jeep Liberty into the back of another car on Northeast 219th Street just west of Battle Ground.

Sean D. Dawkins, 20, had been driving east about 3:20 p.m. when an eastbound 1992 Toyota Paseo ahead of him stopped to make a left turn onto 92nd Avenue, according to a bulletin from the Washington State Patrol.

Troopers said Dawkins crashed into the rear of the Toyota, knocking it across the westbound lane into a culvert. The Toyota’s driver, Kenneth F. Baker, 61, of Battle Ground was taken by AMR Northwest ambulance to Southwest Washington Medical Center, as was Dawkins.

Baker, who suffered back pain according to the WSP bulletin, was listed in satisfactory condition Monday night.

Troopers said Dawkins suffered chest pain. He no longer was listed as a patient Monday night, a hospital employee said.

The bulletin said the crash was caused by inattention by Dawkins and he was ticketed for alleged negligent driving.
