HOUSTON (AP) — Houston Texans linebacker Brian Cushing says he hasn’t missed a step.

The 2009 Defensive Rookie of the Year practiced with his team Wednesday for the first time since the end of his four-game suspension for violating the NFL’s policy on banned substances.

Cushing says he’s “90 to 95 percent” ready to return, but needs the rest of this week to reacquaint himself to the Texans’ defensive schemes. He says he’s relieved to have the ordeal of his positive test and suspension behind him.

Houston coach Gary Kubiak said Cushing will play for the Texans (3-1) against the New York Giants (2-2) on Sunday. The linebacker went through an individual workout on Tuesday, and Kubiak liked what he saw during Wednesday’s practice.

Cushing worked out six days a week at home in New Jersey during his suspension.
