PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A Multnomah County judge has decided to delay until Jan. 6 the divorce proceeding between Kaine Horman and Terri Moulton Horman, the father and stepmother of a boy missing since June.

The Oregonian reports that Judge Keith Meisenheimer on Thursday called the issues “extraordinary, difficult and complex.” and unlike any that’s come before state family law court.

Kaine Horman says he suspects his wife to be involved in the disappearance of 7-year-old Kyron Horman. Kaine Horman has filed for divorce and a restraining order against her.

Meisenheimer says he had to weigh Terri Horman’s Fifth Amendment rights not to incriminate herself with Kaine Horman’s need for a quick resolution of child custody, parenting and financial matters in the divorce.
