FEDERAL WAY, Wash. (AP) — Federal Way police are investigating the death of an 8-month-old girl who died hours after being released from Mary Bridge children’s hospital in Tacoma.

The News Tribune reports the parents called 911 early Wednesday because they thought the baby may have found and swallowed prescription pills.

Paramedics took the baby to the hospital, which released her two hours later. The father says they were told the baby would be fine. They put the baby to bed. Three hours later she was dead.

A Mary Bridge spokesman says it can’t release patient information but it will cooperate with police.

Investigators are awaiting the results of toxicology tests.
