PARIS (AP) — France’s volleyball players are backing their coach in his decision to send home player Earvin Ngapeth following his locker room outburst at the world championship in Italy.

The volleyballers support for coach Philippe Blain comes after their soccer counterparts went on strike at the World Cup to protest Nicolas Anelka’s eviction from the squad.

They said in a statement they stick by “Blain’s courageous and fair decision given the (player’s) unacceptable behavior.”

Ngapeth was expelled from the team for insulting Blain following a match against Japan.

France is playing in the consolation games this weekend.
