NEW YORK (AP) — Baseball management, players and umpires will have another summit on the state of umpiring on Dec. 3, just ahead of the start of the winter meetings.

The meeting was called at the request of the players’ association and will be held in the Orlando, Fla., area, two people familiar with its scheduling said, speaking on condition of anonymity because no announcement was made.

Its scheduling first was reported Friday by ESPN.com.

Following more blown calls at the start of this year’s playoffs, some are calling for an increased use of instant replay by umpires. Commissioner Bud Selig said last month there was not a lot of support for it among the managers, executives and owners he consulted with.
