DENTON, Texas (AP) — Ryan Aplin rushed for two touchdowns and passed for another to lead Arkansas State to a 24-19 victory against North Texas on Saturday night.

Aplin ran for TDs of 13 and 9 yards and tossed an 11-yard scoring pass to Dwayne Frampton as the Red Wolves (2-4, 2-2 Sun Belt) built a 21-3 first-half lead.

North Texas (1-5, 1-2) came back with a 1-yard Lance Dunbar TD run and three field goals by Zach Olen to make it a two-point game in the fourth quarter. But Arkansas State got a field goal from Bobby Zalud with 9:40 remaining, and the Mean Green drove no further than midfield on their last two possessions.

Aplin was 14 of 26 for 169 yards passing and ran for 61 yards on 15 carries.

Dunbar rushed for 105 yards on 30 attempts.
