The wet roadway and a driver going too fast for the conditions were blamed for a two-vehicle crash on a highway onramp Saturday afternoon, according to police.

Vancouver resident Melissa Wood, 37, was driving a 1998 Subaru Legacy on the ramp from state Highway 500 west to Interstate 205 southbound about 12:30 p.m., and lost control on the wet pavement. The vehicle rotated and struck the right rear quarter panel on a 1999 Ford pickup, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The pickup, driven by Vancouver resident Bobby Ephrem, spun out from the impact, according to police. Ephrem, 47, was transported to Southwest Washington Medical Center with pain to his left side, according to the police report. He was not a patient at the hospital Saturday night, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

A passenger in Wood’s vehicle, Kasandra Flanagan, 12, complained of pain in her right arm but was not taken to the hospital, according to police.

Wood was cited for driving too fast for the conditions.
