What’s the buzz from the world of sports? Here are some items that will have people talking:

10

Our first Talking Point today isn’t starting at 1 … we’re starting with 10.

Why?

Today is 10-10-10, and how often does that occur?

It also got us to thinking about those who wore the No. 10.

Seahawks fans will remember No. 10 on the uniform of quarterback Jim Zorn.

Every teams has its No. 10, which we learned during the World Cup advertising blitz, that the number is usually reserved for the team’s best player. Like USA’s Landon Donovan.

No. 10 hangs in a lot of rafters as a retired number. The Yankees retired it in 1985 for Phil Rizzuto. The Celtics in 1982 for JoJo White. The Canadiens in 1985 for Guy Lafleur. As for the NFL … check out today’s trivia question below.

There have been 12 Trail Blazers to have worn the No. 10, which is currently owned by Joel Przybilla.

The Comedy Central cartoon “South Park” took on NASCAR with its season-opening episode entitled “Poor and Stupid.”

Despite the title and often crude lines in the show, so far NASCAR drivers had no problem with the idea of being the brunt of a not-so-flattering parody.

Not even Jimmie Johnson took offense when Cartman, a character on the show, had this to say about him: “I’m a little worried about that Johnson guy — he seems dumber than spit.”

Replied Johnson: “I’ve had multiple text messages saying that I was on ‘South Park,’ really, from all of my friends’ kids. I’ve got to check it out.”
