SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — An Oregon man claims in a lawsuit against Philippine Airlines that an employee falsely reported that he had threatened to blow up a plane.

Mark Field said in a lawsuit filed in San Mateo County Superior Court that a worker knowingly lied to police in the September 2009 incident at San Francisco International Airport.

Authorities charged Field with two felony counts of making false threats. He was accused of pointing to his cell phone during an argument over whether he could buy a one-way ticket, saying he’d use it to blow up a plane.

The San Mateo County Times reports that prosecutors dropped the charges after Field agreed to plead no contest to misdemeanor disturbing the peace.

Philippine Airlines did not immediately respond to an e-mail seeking comment.
